Howdy!

The Aggie Guardian (The AG) is a new student-run newspaper dedicated to reporting news and opinions on the most important topics of interest to the Texas A&M community that you won’t find anywhere else.

Besides covering campus happenings and breaking news, The AG does investigative journalism to create transparency and hold the A&M administration accountable to the Aggie community and Texans. The Aggie Guardian’s goal is to help sustain a bright future for Texas A&M without compromising the values, heritage, and traditions of the university and its current and former students.

The Aggie Guardian is currently a twice-monthly newspaper with regular online content updates.

Our first issue is dedicated to the issues surrounding proposed fee increases and the Kyle Field renovation.

I deliver, with the help of several staff reporters, a hard-hitting investigative feature article about the athletic fee and Kyle Field.

Junior Eric Schroeder and Student Senator Chris Russo give us their take on the fee issue.

Finally, Senior Finance Major Steven Crumpley sent me an interesting letter about the practice of selling sports passes.  You can find this in reader letters section.

Our staff worked very hard to bring you these stories. Unfortunately, the university administration was not very cooperative in certain cases and preferred to delay the release of important information as long as possible by directing us to file open records requests rather than just answer our questions by phone.

The university would apparently rather sit on information for 10 days than be open and transparent to students. Instead of answering legitimate questions about current issues, the university spokesman Jason Cook chose to interrogate my reporters.
